1. “Jack of All Trades” or “Master of None”? In Small Business, the Master always trumps the Jack! It is best to be known and perceived as an expert in a subject matter, product or service!
2. To quote George Harrison, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” It is imperative that a Small Business identifies their “destination” (target market) to ensure their marketing efforts are “on the road to success.”
3. 95% of Small Businesses do not follow-up with prospective clients or customers. A 1% improvement in follow-up can result in a 35% increase in revenue!
4. A 100 watt light bulb can light up an entire room…but a 100 watt laser can burn a hole in the wall of that same room! Narrow your (market) focus to “burn your competition!”
5. 80% of prospective purchasers search the Internet before purchasing. When a prospective purchaser finds you, be sure that your business is “attractive” and emotionally appealing to them!
6. Traditional Marketing consists of the 4P’s: Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. Always monitor and examine that your business is properly executing on all four elements.
7. 85% of Small Businesses do not use a Marketing Calendar to implement their Marketing Plan. The 15% who do realize over 50% revenue growth as a result!
8. Don’t make your website a reflection of you…make it a reflection of your prospective client or customer! They want to see themselves there to know that you understand their business, their challenges, and how best you can solve those challenges for them!
9. Be sure your existing base of clients and customers knows all of what you can do…they want to purchase more from you rather than shop around!
10. Run to, not away from, Client and Customer Feedback! Find out how well you provide your solution and find out other ways to provide additional solutions. Your clients and customers will be glad to help you with this process! Welcome their input!
11. The average person needs to hear your message seven times (7X) before they buy.
12. We retain 10% of what we have “heard” after 30 days with one “touch point,” but with six “touches” within 30 days, we remember 90%!
13. The definition of VALUE is what problems you solve and what clients and customers say about you!
14. It’s not about BIG…it’s about LITTLE! We remember the “little things” that a business does for us much longer than the “big thing!”
15. If you’re not selling something unique, then you are selling for your competitors!
16. Don’t get into price competition…if you do, someone else is always willing to go out of business faster than you!
17. UNIQUE problem you solve (or) HOW you solve a problem in a UNIQUE WAY!
