LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD as an ENGINEER?

Filed Under What's New · Tagged:

Michael Pfeifer, President, Industrial Metallurgists, LLC educated me greatly on exactly what materials engineering is all about and the value such engineering “brings to the table!”  WOW!  “Lots of stuff” goes into making what we use as consumers…I had no idea how complex some products are…check Mike’s site out www.imetllc.com!  He really knows his “stuff” and “sees” things that we can’t even imagine are there when we look at a product.  This reminds me of the small business marketing systems which we implement throughout Chicagoland i.e. many times, it is hard to see the system, but the results are very clear!

The graphic that Jeff added is great for illustrating the relationship between a material’s performance, properties, and the manufacturing process conditions to which it was exposed. Unfortunately, many design engineers are not aware of this relationship when they are selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers when developing a product.
