LAUNCHPAD Partners: “Get ‘this baby’ off the ground!” REALLY?!?

Filed Under What's New · Tagged:

What a great name–Launchpad Partners…more about “the baby” later! :-) I met recently with Dan Wallace, founder and partner of Launchpad Partners, who has a fascinating business model…Their mission is to create new value for their clients, be it via improved operations, increased cash flows, solidified balance sheets or stronger market positions.  He and his partner have an outstanding “track record” for doing such!  Take a look at their websitse www.launchpadpartners.net to learn more….As Dan so eloquently stated, let them help you get “your baby” (i.e. the business, between $10M to $300M) off the ground!   Being a marketing guy, I could not help but smile with such a statement!

5 Fundamental Truths about College Success?

Filed Under What's New · Tagged:

Recently, our youngest son, left for college…Before leaving, I had a “father-son” talk…no, not the “LSD Talk” :-) but “how to ensure success in college” or, put differently, “The 5 Fundamental Truths about College Success”…In order –>

1. GO TO CLASS!

2. PARTICPATE IN CLASS and…get to know the professor!

3. ASSUME EVERY CLASS IS HARD!

4. DON’T GET BEHIND!

5. ASK FOR HELP!

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated to see if they are or are not indeed “fundamental truths!”  Thanks for your comments! :-)

Beck Concert

Very interesting…I attended one of Beck’s (www.beck.com) two concerts here in Chicago the other night…He is an extremely talented, creative artist, but what really impressed me about his show was its relative simplicity–the stage, the group with him (only four, not cast of thousands) and selection of songs.  He played 25 songs in 90 minutes, sticking to the songs as I knew them and wanted to hear them.  Nothing really fancy in any way, just “simple” i.e. two lead guitars, bass guitar and drums…it probably reminded me of my favorite group, The Beatles, whose initial “simplistic approach” lead them to “fame and fortune!”  As one who works with Small Businesses and Marketing, it reminded me of the importance of “sticking to your knitting” and “dance with the one who brought you!”  As well, it’s not always the most complicated that “gets you there” but many times, the “simplistic” but done consistently well!

SBA Loans Available & “The 5 C’s”…

Filed Under What's New · Tagged:

I recently met with Alan Lane-Murcia, Small Business Administration (SBA) Coordinator, Mutual Bank, (www.mutualbanking.com) who provided me with some excellent insight into the recent “Credit Crisis”…He works exclusively with SBA loans and reiterated that due to this program, there are options available for Small Business Owners.  This was very encouraging given all of the “doom and gloom” we have heard lately.  In addition, he reminded me about “The 5 C’s of Business Credit”: 1. Cash Flow 2. Capital 3. Credit 4. Character 5. Collateral.  Alan can be reached @ amurcia@mutualbanking.com.
